The Syndicate Jazz Band (formerly known as The Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra) is pleased to announce the creation of The Jazz Composers Syndicate.

Music director and composer Tom Pesciotta is endeavoring to encourage local jazz composers to create original compositions for the band to perform. This will serve as a cooperative agreement between the band and local composers for the purpose of promoting new music created by talented, local musicians. For the past 21 years, the band has sought to honor the music of the great big bands of the past; and to support the work of today's composers by performing new arrangements of classic tunes from the jazz repertoire. As music director, Tom now plans to move the band forward into the 21st century by showcasing the music of up-and-coming composers. The band hopes to inspire a resurgence of interest in large-scale compositions for jazz ensembles.
