How to Submit

We offer this opportunity to local musicians absolutely free. There is no charge for composers to submit their music for consideration. We only request permission to publicly perform your music and to include it in our regular repertoire. Simply compose original music, or create a unique, original arrangement of a previously published song of your choosing. (You are responsible for copyright permissions.)

Submissions must include a full, transposed score and a complete set of carefully prepared and clearly legible parts. (Computer generated parts using notation software such as Finale or Sibelius are preferred. Professionally prepared, hand-copied parts are also acceptable.) Score and parts must include all performance criteria such as, tempo markings, dynamics, phrase markings and articulations, etc.

An audio recording of the piece (in MP3 format) is helpful if available. Alternately, a computer generated MP3 file, created by notation software, is sufficient. Neither, however, is necessary for consideration.

E-mail a description of your composition to submissions@syndicatejazz.com. Attach the MP3 recording if available and a copy of the opening 4 pages (32 bars) of the score in .pdf format.  We will respond with an appointment for you to bring us the music.

*The Syndicate Jazz Band is the sole judge of whether or not to accept the composition into our repertoire. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings in Webster.
